About Me

Hi, I’m Hilary Elizabeth Margitich!

I’m a children’s author who believes that stories—about history, culture, science, sports, and the extraordinary things people do—have the power to inspire kids and help them discover just how capable they truly are.

I grew up as a quiet, imaginative child with a deep love of books, and a mind full of questions. I spent hours drawing, making up stories, and playing pretend with elaborate imaginary worlds. Even then, I knew I wanted to be a writer someday. In high school, I became editor-in-chief of the newspaper and discovered the “power of the pen”: how my words could spark curiosity, start conversations, and change how people saw the world!

Today, I write books for children about people and things I find fascinating—the wonders that make life rich and inspiring. I’m also the mom of three boys, who keep me active, curious, and constantly stocked with story ideas.

Most of all, I hope my books help young readers understand their world—and their power in it.
